Hydrogen demonstration unit will be built in the next 2 months using the New Toyota Hybrid to show the possibilities of running a car on water only.
The idea is to have existing technology modified so that the petrol engine is converted to run on hydrogen only, the battery pack will remain untouched.
Certain modifications have to be done and they are listed below:
1. High-powered air pump
2. Ignition timing
3. Flash back arrestors
4. Electronic throttle
We have to use a high powered air pump to push the hydrogen through the existing injectors so that the hydrogen is injected directly into the cylinder.
The ignition timing has to be altered as hydrogen has a higher flash point than normal fuel, therefore the timing is altered to compensate for this.
A flash back arrestor is placed on the air intake to prevent any flashback into the engine compartment.
An electronic system is added to the existing throttle unit to control the voltages to the hydrogen unit to compensate for engine demand.
Converting to a hydrogen vehicle has definite benefits not only to you as a vehicle owner but also and more importantly to the environment as the vehicle produces zero emission.
